Bosch dishwasher error code E25

The pump is blocked, or its cover is loose or missing entirely.

Cycle will not run

No, and there is one thing to check that takes ten seconds. This code is separated from E23 for a reason: the most common cause is not a broken part at all, it is a cover that was not put back properly last time somebody cleaned the filter.

What to check yourself

  1. Step 1. Check the pump cover is there and locked down

Take the filter out and look at the cover underneath. It should be sitting flat and turned into its locked position. If it is loose, sitting at an angle, or missing entirely because it came out with the filter last time and ended up in a drawer, that is your fault code. Seat it, turn it until it stops, and try a cycle.

  2. Step 2. Clear the impeller under it

With the cover off and the machine unplugged, turn the impeller by hand and remove anything wrapped around it.

Unplug at the wall before reaching in, and look before you touch: glass fragments collect here.

  3. Step 3. Check the drain hose

A hose blocked or kinked behind the machine produces the same symptom. Follow it from the machine to the sink cabinet looking for a crushed section.

What a technician will look at

Described so you know what you are paying for, not as steps to repeat.

  • Replace the pump

If the cover is right, the impeller is clear and the hose is open, the pump has failed and needs replacing.

When to call a technician

After the cover, the impeller and the hose have all been ruled out. If the cover itself is broken or lost, order the part rather than booking a visit: it is a cheap plastic component and fitting it is the same motion as cleaning the filter.

What the repair costs

RepairPart onlyFitted by a technician
Refitting the pump cover-Free
Replacement pump cover, part only$15 to $40$75 to $150
Drain pump replacement$20 to $100$100 to $400

A new machine of the same class runs $500 to $1,500. Once a quote passes about a third of that on an older appliance, the repair stops making sense.

Questions people ask

It started right after I cleaned the filter.
Then it is the cover, with near certainty. It lifts out with the filter assembly easily and goes back looking seated when it is not. Take the filter out again and turn the cover until it locks.

Which machines this applies to

Applies to

All Bosch dishwashers. Machines with newer electronics show E6102 for the same fault.
